Hebrews Ch. 2:1-8

There is sooooooooooooooo much in Hebrews!  It is strictly impossible to fit the entire second chapter into one entry- so I would like to split it up a bit.

LISTEN CAREFULLY AND OBEY GOD> GIVE HEED!

2:1 “So we must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it.”

This first verse of the passage is a very telling warning.  The next portion is also vital for people to ponder…

2:2 “The message God delivered through angels has always proved true (or unalterable) and the people were punished for every violation of the law and every act of disobedience. 3 What makes us think that we can escape if we are indifferent to this great salvation that was announced by the Lord Jesus himself?”

To really dig into this verse, we have to acknowledge that God has given angels the ability to be His messengers.  We are the one’s God directs them to send the message to.  And every message from angels is God’s word.  This is synonymous with truth.

With that being said, who are we to deny Jesus’ sacrifice?

And also, 4 “God verified the message by signs and wonders and various miracles and by giving gifts of the Holy Spirit whenever He chose to do so.”

Verses 5-8 profess Christ’s superiority over the angels labeling Him a man because that WAS God’s will.  His grace to redeem us!
